Essentials

No vaccinations are compulsory. Your suitcase should carry the following items: good walking shoes or moccasins and a sweater or jacket for cool evenings. Include insect repellent, hat, and sunblock.

Jordan standard time is between 2 to 3 hours ahead of GMT.

Local Currency

Jordan: The official currency is the Jordanian Dinar (JOD).

The exchange rates are subject to change. Exchange houses are spread throughout the cities and airports. Our team in destination can assist you.

Credit & Debit Cards

Visa and Master Card are the most popular and accepted cards. Some small establishments do not accept credit cards. Travelers; cheques can be difficult to exchange unless they are used at some exchange houses. Bank ATMs are also widely available in the main cities.

Electric Current

Taxis and Uber

Regular taxis are abundant in major cities with taxi meters, most are in good condition and safe. Uber is not allowed to the visit attraction areas and airports.

Tipping

Tipping is never required but recommended, and always appreciated for guides, drivers, porters, waiters etc…

In hotels and restaurants 5% service tax and 8% sales tax are added to the bills.

Weather

The climate in Jordan is semi-dry in summer with average temperature in the mid 30°C (mid 90°F) and relatively cold in winter averaging around 12°C (around 55°F). The major characteristic of the climate is humid from November to March and semi dry weather for the rest of the year. With hot, dry summers and cool winters during which practically all of the precipitation occurs.

Jordan’s weather has the four seasons well marked away from extreme conditions to accommodate the client’s travel season preference (spring, summer, fall, and winter). The country’s long summer reaches a peak during August and January – February are usually the coldest months.
